Hypothesis Discrepancy Between Intra- and Interpopulation Studies of the Relationship Between Dietary Salt and Blood Pressure: Fact or Fiction?

It is a paradox that intra-population studies fail to show significant correlation between sodium excretion and blood pressure while a clear relationship exists in cross-cultural studies. Since daily variation of sodium excretion is high, the discrepancy between the two observations could be due to non -comparable data on sodium excretion. This is a discussion of the hypothesis that the finding of a significant correlation or not between sodium excretion and blood pressure depends on the statistical analysis of the data.     

Comparison of the T2Dx instrument with T2Candida assay and automated blood culture in the detection of Candida species using seeded blood samples

As a delay in the diagnosis and treatment of candidemia is associated with increased mortality and healthcare costs, a more rapid method of detection is urgently needed. The T2Candida assay is a new rapid diagnostic test, which uses T2 magnetic resonance technology to identify Candida spp. directly from whole blood in approximately 3 hours. In this study, the performance of the BACTEC 9050 using Aerobic Plus/F blood culture bottles was compared to that of the T2Candida assay run on the T2Dx Instrument for detection of Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida parapsilosis, Candida glabrata, and Candida krusei, in seeded blood samples at concentrations between 3.1 and 11 CFU/mL. The BACTEC 9050 detected Candida growth in 100% of bottles (n = 20 replicates) within 5 days for all species (63.23 ± 30.27 hours), with the exception of Candida glabrata (0%). The T2Candida assay had a 100% detection rate for each species (n = 13–20 replicates) within 3 hours including C. glabrata. The sensitivity and specificity of the T2Candida assay were 1 and 0.978, respectively.     

Mirtazapine treatment and sexual functions: Results of a Hungarian,multicentre, prospective study in depressed out-patients

Since many antidepressants can cause sexual dysfunction, the aim of this study was to follow-up sexual functions during mirtazapine (RemeronSolTab®) treatment. One hundred and two (44 male and 58 female) outpatients with major depression were recruited to this prospective, observational, non-interventional study. The screening was followed by three visits, during which the 17-HAMD, CGI and 9-BDI scales were used. The change of sexual life was monitored by a self-completing questionnaire, based on the modified Psychotropic-Related Sexual Dysfunction Questionnaire. During the treatment both the depression rating scales and the CGI have shown a significant improvement and significant amelioration of previous sexual problems was found; patients were evaluating their sexual life better and better. Our results indicated that mirtazapine is an effective tool for depressed patients who suffer from sexual dysfunction.

Sharper Confidence Intervals for Hochberg- and Hommel-Related Multiple Tests Based On an Extended Simes Inequality

This article concerns recent developments related to the now classical multiple-testing procedures (MTPs) of Holm, Hochberg, and Hommel based on marginal p-values. For a long time, the derivation of simultaneous confidence intervals (SCIs) corresponding to these MTPs was considered to be a difficult problem, but solutions were published in 2008 for Holm's MTP, and in 2012 for Hochberg's and Hommel's MTPs. These SCIs turned out to be as simple and easily implemented as the MTPs themselves, and to be remarkably similar. However, they also turned out to have the property/limitation, shared with other powerful stepwise MTPs, that no confidence assertions sharper than rejection assertions are possible unless all null hypotheses are rejected. A possibility is then to construct related families of MTPs that do not have this limitation but are somewhat less powerful, so users may choose among various such trade-off MTPs. It is shown in this article how an extended Simes inequality can be used to construct Hochberg- and Hommel-related MTPs of this kind that: (i) are more powerful than corresponding trade-off MTPs proposed previously, and (ii) lead to SCIs that are sharper than the ones proposed previously. Corresponding Holm-related MTPs and SCIs are considered for completeness and comparisons.

老年轻度认知障碍综合干预效果初步研究

目的通过对老年轻度认知障碍患者综合干预的效果分析,评价综合干预方案的有效性。方法采用随机对照试验方法,将目标社区MCI患者（130例）随机分为干预组（65例）和对照组（65例）,对干预组采取认知干预和体力活动相结合的方法进行综合干预。结果干预组和对照组分别在干预前后3个月比较,差别都有统计学意义（各自P〈0.05）;两组分别在干预后3个月与6个月比较,差别都有统计学意义（各自P〈0.05）。结论认知干预和体育锻炼有益于维持或改善老年人的认知状况,并能给老年人的生活态度和精神状态产生积极的影响。     

RasDL与IRAS远程访问系统对比分析

针对大连医科大学图书馆安装试用的两种远程访问系统(RasDL和IRAS),以调查问卷及网络问答等途径收集反馈信息,从用户反馈和管理员管理两个方面对两种访问系统进行比较分析,希望能对高校图书馆开展远程访问服务提供一定参考。
